Privacy Policy

French drain trench - ai picture

Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy (the “Policy”) describes how Houston French Drain (“HFD”, “us”, “we” or “our”) collects, uses, saves and shares information when you visit the website houstonfrenchdrain.com (the “Site”) and interact with it.

By accessing and using the Site, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree to any of the provisions of this Policy, please do not use the Site.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, which also apply to the Site.

This Policy does not apply to other websites, even if the Site links to them.

1. No Users Under 18.

You must be 18 years old or older to use the Site. If you are under 18, please do not use the Site or send us any information. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under the age of 18, we will use reasonable efforts to delete it.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following information so that we can answer your request and run the Site:

2.1 Information You Give Us. When you fill in our quote request form, we collect your name, your phone number, your email (if you provided it), the town or ZIP code where the work is needed, the type of service you are asking about and any additional information you choose to add in the open text field. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you included in that email. When you use the form on our Contact page, we collect your full name, your phone number, your email address, the subject of your message and the message itself.

2.2 Phone Calls and Call Recordings. When you call the phone number on the Site, our phone system records/stores the number you are calling from, the date, time and length of the call and, if you leave one, your voicemail message. Calls to that number are recorded and may be forwarded/redirected to a Service Provider in order to provide you with the service you requested as quickly as possible. A recorded greeting tells every caller this at the start of the call. If you do not want to be recorded, you can hang up and contact us by email or through the form instead.

2.3 Information Collected Automatically (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site. So, when you visit the Site, we see, for example, which pages are visited, how long visits last, how visitors found the Site, and other general information about your device, the browser used and the approximate location (such as the city). Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. These reports show us trends and are not used to identify you personally. You can read how Google uses this information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can stop Google Analytics in your browser by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout). This add-on is not ours, we do not guarantee that it works, and we take no responsibility for or over it.

2.4 Security and Spam Protection Related Information. The Site is protected and delivered through Cloudflare. Our quote request form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person, not a robot, is sending it. To do this, Turnstile processes technical signals such as your IP address and your browser’s user agent, only to detect and block bots and to improve that detection. Cloudflare describes this in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum (https://www.cloudflare.com/turnstile-privacy-policy/). Like most websites, the server that hosts the Site also keeps short technical logs (such as IP address, date and time, and the page requested) for security and to keep the Site running.

2.5 Cookies. Cookies are small data files stored on your device. The Site uses: (a) Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID), which tell visits apart and keep track of a visit in progress, and last up to 2 years unless you delete them; and (b) security cookies that Cloudflare and Turnstile may set to detect and block bots, which are needed for the Site and the form to work.

You can remove or block cookies through your browser settings. You can also block cookies on most mobile devices under “settings”. Please note that if you block the security cookies, the quote request form may not work for you.

This Privacy Policy does not cover the use of cookies by third parties on the Site. These third parties (such as Google and Cloudflare) handle the information their cookies and services collect under their own privacy policies.

3. Use of Personal Information.

We use your personal information to show you informative information, answer your request/s (if you submitted any) and to run and improve the Site. In particular, we use it to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Site;
  • Respond to your questions and contact you about your request - by phone call, text message or email - either directly or via a service provider we work with (“Service Provider”);
  • Pass your request to a Service Provider so that they can contact you and answer your request and/or give you an estimate for the work you asked about;
  • Protect, investigate and deter against fraudulent, unauthorized or illegal activity;
  • Prevent any use of the Site which is unlawful or against our Terms of Service;
  • Keep a record of requests and calls, so that we can check that requests were answered, and to resolve disputes (although we are under no obligation to do so) or troubleshoot problems;

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers. We do provide the necessary information to a Service Provider in order for that Service Provider to provide you with a price proposal or the service you requested.

4. Sharing of Personal Information

We may share personal information as follows:

  • With the Service Providers we work with. We share the contact details you provide (such as name, phone number and city/town), and the details of your request (such as what type of service you need), with the Service Providers that we work with so that they can contact you about your request and give you a price estimate and/or provide the actual service you requested. Each Service Provider is an independent business, and while we do inform them that they need to comply with applicable laws (including privacy laws), we do not control (and are not responsible for) how they act. Once we share your information with it in line with this Policy, that Service Provider alone is responsible for the use and storage of that information.
  • When you provide your consent. For example, you may ask us to share your information with someone else. Third parties are subject to their own privacy policies.
  • When we do a business deal, or negotiate a business deal, involving the sale or transfer of all or a part of our business or assets (including the Site). These deals can include any merger, financing, acquisition, or bankruptcy transaction or proceeding, and/or the sale or renting out of the Site.
  • For legal, protection, and safety purposes, for example: to comply with laws and/or lawful requests and legal processes; to protect the rights and property of HFD, its agents, customers, Service Providers and others. This includes enforcing our agreements, policies, and Terms of Service.
  • In an emergency. This includes protecting the safety of our employees, agents, Service Providers, customers, or any other person.
  • With third party service providers in order to provide you with specific services and/or features, including technology providers that help us run the Site, such as (but not limited to) our Site hosting service provider, Cloudflare (security, spam protection and delivery of the Site), Google (Google Analytics), our email provider and our phone provider (calls, voicemail and call recordings). These providers handle the information under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • We may also share general aggregated and/or anonymized data with others for their own uses. This information does not personally identify you.
  • Testimonials: if you provide your consent, we may publish your testimonial to the Site. The testimonial may include your name (full or partial), your city, the service you received and the content of the testimonial or a screenshot or your message.

5. Where Information Is Stored

The Site is meant for people in the United States. Our technology providers may store or process information in the United States or in other countries where they operate, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

6. Protection of Information

Your information is protected in several ways. The Site uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, Cloudflare features for additional protection and only people with need to know access to the information on the Site have access.

Call recordings and voicemail messages are kept for about 18 months and are then deleted.

Google Analytics keeps data about a single visit for 2 months, and data linked to a returning visitor (through the Google Analytics cookies) for 14 months. General summary reports, which do not identify you, are not affected by these limits.

Form entries, emails and call records (such as the number you called from and the date, time and length of the call) are kept for as long as we have a business reason to keep them, for example to check that requests were answered and to keep business records.

Although we use industry standard security measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee that the information submitted to, kept on, or sent from our systems will be completely secure and we do not take responsibility for the information once transferred, in line with this Policy, to the third parties mentioned above (including Service Providers). After such transfer, only those third parties are responsible for how they use, share and store that information.

7. Your Choices About Your Personal Information

You can ask us to do the following with your personal information:

  • Access. You can ask whether we hold personal information about you, and if we do, you may receive a copy of it.
  • Correction. You can ask us to correct personal information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your personal information, including the information you entered into the forms and any call recording - subject to the below mentioned limitations.
  • Stop contact. You can ask us to stop contacting you about your request.

Despite the above, we may keep some information where we need it to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service or meet a legal requirement. We cannot delete copies already held by a Service Provider and/or third party service provider who received your request, but we will pass your deletion request on to them when possible or advise you to contact them directly. We will not treat you differently because you made a request.

To make a request, email us at the email address provided at the end of this Policy, or complete the contact form on the Site. We may need to confirm that the request comes from you, for example by contacting you at the phone number you gave us or asking for some form of identification.

8. Communications.

By completing the quote request form, leaving a voicemail, or contacting us, you are agreeing that we can share the information with a Service Provider and that either we, or the Service Provider, may contact you by phone call, text message or email, using the details you provided. You are also agreeing to get updates/reminders about maintenance or related services (to the one you requested or received) by phone, text message or email. If you no longer want to be contacted, tell us (see “Your Choices” above) or directly tell the Service Provider who contacted you. If we (and not a Service Provider) send you a text message, you can reply STOP to stop receiving our text messages, and we will stop. Please note that we are not responsible for text messages sent by third parties (including Service Providers), and we do not usually send text messages unless you requested something from us.

9. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice by revising this Policy.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy.

This Policy may be changed occasionally. When we make changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the “Last Updated” date below. Changes take effect 24 hours after they have been posted. Continued use of the Site after the changes are posted indicates your acknowledgement and acceptance of such changes. If you do not accept the changes, please avoid using the Site.

11. Contact Us.

We take your privacy seriously. If you have any concerns, please let us know.

We welcome your comments and questions. You may contact us by email at info@houstonfrenchdrain.com or through the form on our Contact page.
